Afghanistan

Thank God my oldest son is home from Afghanistan. This is his second deployment and, barring an Armageddon, he will not have another. He is so fortunate to be alive. He survives only because of the prayers offered up on his behalf by hundreds of good Christian friends. Thanks be to God that he walked through without even a scratch. As he reminded me as his feet touched American soil, “Mom, so many of my friends have either been wounded or are dead.”

I cannot tell you what a toll it takes on America’s young fighting force to defend this land. My son is part of a very small community of warriors.  He is exceedingly well trained, strategically brilliant, and solid as a rock; however, as his mother, I have concerns about the long term effects these missions will have on his emotional state and his physical body. Having lived and served during the Vietnam Era myself, I can tell you that this generation of fighters has seen just as much cruelty inflicted by the hands of the Taliban as the communists perpetrated on the Vietnamese during the Vietnam War.

Please remember to pray each day for our young warriors.  They really are heroes.
