One Nation, Back to God

Red River Tea Party just recently held its "One Nation, Back to God" rally.  It was our first outreach to the largest population of conservative minded people in this country - Christians.  Although the church community has been slow to embrace the tea party movement, I believe the effort to shift our country back to center must include folks who live by the Golden Rule, citizens who are guided by a strong moral compass.

So many of my Christian friends feel uncomfortable getting engaged politically.  They believe their vote in November will carry enough punch to effect much needed change.  I beg to differ.  So for those of you who want to take daily action to safeguard the blessing of freedom, I offer up this prayer in hopes that you will recite it everyday, before and after the upcoming election season.

Some days it feels as though the only hope is prayer!

Heavenly Father,

We are so very grateful to be living here today in the land of freedom. We come to you on our knees to acknowledge that  we have heard your call to this mighty and noble cause: to defend our beloved homeland in these troubled times and to speak out with courage against those who would erase your name from ALL that is American. Father, on this day, we proudly proclaim with one voice that you are America’s God, that this is and will remain a Christian nation, that you are still the cornerstone of this GREAT Republic.

Lord, we ask you to sustain us through the difficult days that lay ahead for the United States. We know we’re at a critical crossroad - that we will falter without you. We acknowledge that we have failed to safeguard the precious gift of liberty you laid at our feet two centuries ago - the freedom that our forefathers died for so that America might be free.

Father, we ask you to place your powerful hands on the President of the United States and on the advisors who surround him. Lord, we need for you to place Godly men and women in their way who will minister to them spiritually and guide them to RESTORE America, not diminish or divide her.

Take each of us present today. Use us for your glory, give us the faith to stand on your word - that if we humble ourselves, if we seek your glorious face and ask your forgiveness, then you will hear our petition and heal our land.

Father, thank you for all the patriots and Christians who have heard your call to battle. Let us stand together - free of all fear - and to speak publicly what we believe. Lord, empower us to be the defending fathers of our principled way of life.

In the precious name of Christ our Savior. Amen.
